Job Overview:
Our company is seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer with a strong background in renewable energy systems—particularly solar and power systems—to support our utility client. This role focuses on designing, analyzing, and testing electrical components and systems that integrate renewable energy sources into the transmission network. The engineer will be embedded in the Protection and Controls (P&C) group and work cross-functionally to deliver critical technical solutions for interconnection studies and capital projects.
Key Responsibilities:
•Design and develop electrical systems for renewable energy integration, focusing on solar power and utility-scale applications.
•Perform short-circuit analysis, breaker-duty studies, and determine protection requirements for interconnecting customer-owned facilities to the company’s transmission system.
•Build and maintain short-circuit models using Siemens Gridscale X (CAPE) and/or ASPEN software, incorporating customer-provided facility data.
•Specify protection schemes, relays, and point-of-interconnection settings to ensure compliance with transmission stability requirements.
•Communicate study outcomes, technical data, and protection requirements to interconnection customers, project managers, and other stakeholders.
•Participate in technical meetings with internal teams and external customers to provide engineering support and guidance.
•Support transmission system and transformer modeling as needed for ongoing capital projects.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field (required).
•Educational or internship experience focused on power systems, renewable energy, solar technologies, or power delivery is strongly preferred.
•Prior experience in electrical engineering roles related to utilities or renewable energy is a plus.
•Strong analytical and modeling skills, with attention to detail.
•Proficiency or familiarity with short-circuit modeling tools such as Siemens Gridscale X (CAPE) or ASPEN.
•Experience or interest in SQL, Visual Basic, or scripting languages is a plus.
•Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical results clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
