Electrical/Controls Technicians (TE) combine knowledge of mechanical technology with knowledge of electrical technology and are beginning technicians at Huffman Engineering. The Technician (TE) assembles, tests and install panels. TE reads CAD drawings and is familiar with basic regulations, specifically the NEC. The TE learns to use basic software for testing and troubleshooting. The TE may assist with design or CAD production. The TE can assist on site. Applying basic troubleshooting skills, he or she learns to identify and solve both software problems and hardware problems. TE will prepare documentation, updates and specifications as needed. The TE is resourceful, knowledgeable, and adaptable while doing a variety of tasks.
Assembles panels and other devices following standard drawings. Produces lay-outs for panels and components, products, and systems for industrial purposes. Designs and assembles electrical equipment, components, products, and systems for industrial purposes. Can design simple products and systems to interface machines, hardware, and software. May use CAD software to assist in design and assembly.
The TE gains experience with instrumentation, testing and installation. Records electrical testing and recommends or initiates modification or replacement of equipment. Follows standardized procedures for testing and evaluation of controls. Uses internal documents in testing. Monitors quality and understands quality documents and reporting.
The TE performs work to install and test equipment. Ensures products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications Diagnoses cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and performs preventative and corrective measures. Works to accomplish assigned task under the direction of the project engineer or project manager.
Diagnoses cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and performs preventative and corrective maintenance while maintaining communication between customer and the rest of the HEI team. Works toward gaining an understanding of customer processes and plants. Willing to perform emergency service; and coordinates and schedules this with others.
The TE displays and applies technical/Multi-disciplinary skills. The different disciplines might include: Power distribution, instrumentation, Network systems, of specific processes or industry.
Onsite support is often the responsibility of the TE. The relationships the TE builds with customers because of rapid response and high-quality work result in moving forward in a mutually beneficial relationship.
