Long term contract to direct hire role in Downtown Houston!
The role is responsible for managing project design and drafting activities in alignment with industry and company standards to ensure successful project execution. This includes preparing PFDs, P&IDs, layouts, and documentation, coordinating with project managers, vendors, and contractors, and supporting both preliminary and time-sensitive project needs.
- Facilitate project design and drafting management in accordance with industry and company standards to ensure the successful completion of all project-related activities.
- Assign electrical equipment and instrument tagging numbers.
- Assign conduit and cable numbers.
- Resolve drawing development issues.
- Draft and update changes to record drawings.
- Prepare process flow diagrams (PFD), piping & instrument diagrams (P&ID), general equipment layouts, facility plot plans, and equipment/instrument lists for plant, pipeline, and related facilities construction projects.
- Assist in developing Project Scopes, Engineering/Design Scopes, and Construction Scopes of Work for third-party contracts.
- Attend project meetings to understand customer needs and provide technical input for efficient designs.
- Coordinate the distribution of design packages to ensure stakeholder input and complete information exchange.
- Provide design and drafting services for time-sensitive and budget-critical projects.
- Support preliminary development of potential projects through design and drafting.
- Develop material data sheets and generate requisitions for project manager approval.
- Maintain records of technical design documents and correspondence.
- Coordinate design and logistical issues with Project Managers and Engineering for effective project progress.
- Proficiency in drafting and design (AutoCAD or similar CAD software).
- Strong knowledge of industry standards for electrical, instrumentation, piping, and plant facility design.
- Ability to develop PFDs, P&IDs, equipment layouts, and facility plot plans.
- Familiarity with material take-offs, data sheets, and requisition processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills for resolving drawing and design development issues.
- Effective communication skills for interaction with vendors, contractors, and internal teams.
- Strong organizational skills to maintain records, documentation, and design standards.
- Collaboration and coordination skills for working with project managers and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Willingness to travel to facility sites as needed.
