RED-Rochester is a multi-utility generation plant and district energy supplier to one of the world’s most comprehensive industrial parks: the Eastman Business Park. Supporting a 1,200-acre campus, RED-Rochester has the utilities, infrastructure, technical services, support services, space and complementary regional resources to benefit a wide range of industry verticals. We are seeking an EHS Intern who enjoys the challenge of learning how ensure a safe and compliant work environment for our employees, partners and customers. Our infrastructure consists of a blend of classic and modern industrial assets and requires a person with an interest in industrial and utility systems – able to work collaboratively with mentors and employees to achieve success.
RED Rochester is dedicated to improving the environment and the economy by responsibly providing on-site utility services such as steam and electric power, nitrogen, compressed air, and water and wastewater delivery and treatment services.
- Support for the implementation of a new EHS Management System solution. Support will include data gathering and execution on specific modules such as:
- Incident Management, Safety Observations, Audits/Inspections, JHA and Chemical Management
- Review, cleanup and conversion of an in-house Wastewater Profile database. Support for this will include:
- Review and modification of wastewater profiles, addition of new profiles, collaborate with the team to convert profiles to another platform.
- Update standard operating procedures as needed
- Provide operational support as needed
- Support senior EHS team members
- Enrolled in a college degree in the EHS, Science, Engineering or IT field
- Knowledge of environmental, health and safety programs.
- Ability to successfully and independently drive EHS improvements.
- Ability to streamline processes and use data systems.
- Must be organized and have great attention to detail.
- Strong background in chemistry is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly managing large data sets in Excel.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s license and required insurance.
- Physical demands: While performing duties of job, incumbent is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms. Employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds.
- Work environment: Incumbent may be required to travel between various buildings and work in plant environment where there is moderate noise levels. Employee would be expected to wear appropriate safety gear for each location.
