Position Summary
The Hope Gas Summer Internship Program offers dynamic and hands-on experience for students interested in corporate services within the energy sector. This program provides exposure to real-world business challenges, professional development opportunities, and mentorship from industry leaders. Interns will contribute to meaningful projects in one of the following departments:
- Finance – Assist with budgeting, financial reporting, forecasting, and market analysis.
- Accounting – Assist with projects and gain experience in managing records, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles.
- Regulatory – Assist with projects and reporting to ensure compliance with federal and state utility regulations while supporting filings and policy initiatives.
- Cybersecurity – Assist with and learn about critical systems and protecting data by monitoring threats, managing risks, and strengthening security practices.
- Human Resources (HR) – Gain experience in talent acquisition, total rewards, employee relations, and payroll/HRIS.
- Engineering – Work on infrastructure projects, system optimization, and safety compliance initiatives.
- Marketing & Communications – Develop content, support branding efforts, and assist with internal and external communication strategies.
- Collaborate with department teams to work on impactful projects.
- Conduct research, analyze data, and present findings.
- Participate in professional development workshops and networking events.
- Engage in cross-functional learning opportunities with interns from other departments.
- Support day-to-day operational tasks and contribute innovative ideas.
- Responsible for end of program capstone project
Supervisory Responsibilities
The team member in this role will:
- Serve as an Individual Contributor without supervisory responsibilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ability to quickly learn new software.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and willingness to learn.
- Ability to research, interpret, and apply information relevant to assigned projects.
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in a related field
- Prior internship or work experience is not required; however, relevant coursework, student projects, or campus involvement will be considered a plus.
Physical Requirements
The ideal candidate must be able to complete the following physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation:
- Remain stationary at a designated workspace for up to 90% of the time.
- Move self in different positions to accomplish various tasks throughout the office space; maneuver varying terrain at field locations.
- Adjust or move objects up to 25pounds.
- Operate a computer and other office productivity machinery as necessary.
- Communicate with others to accurately exchange information and ideas.
- Observe details at close range.
- Minimum travel for work-related purposes is expected 10%, which includes visits to locations and industry events.
- This is a temporary, full-time, non-exempt/hourly position.
