Drafter, Designer, AutoCAD Technician

Design Technician- AutoCAD-working in Electric or Gas Utility Industry

NOT a remote position. MUST possess a minimum 2 year degree.

Position located on-site in Louisville, KY

This position performs a variety of duties related to the design of gas and/or electric utilities on-site at the local gas & electric utility. The successful candidate will have a very lengthy training period under the wing of a senior tech, then work with little supervision after. However, support is always available.

Responsibilities:

Duties may include, but are not limited to

· assisting with layout and design engineering work for utility construction

· performing field work such as, measuring accurately with tape or wheel

· interpreting engineering drawings

· taking basic field notes

· occasionally driving locating stakes

· minor right-of-way clearing

· preparing cost estimates using client specific software

· and other similar tasks

Experience in design/drafting/AutoCAD work is required.

Essential Skills:

· Minimum of two years of experience in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.

· Must be able to learn to make and read drawings and sketches.

· Must have proficient technical knowledge and skills, such as mathematics, and be able to handle difficult and multiple design assignments.

· Two or more years with utility design experience desired.

· Competent in computer/windows-based applications and possesses the ability and willingness to learn new software programs.

· Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job which may include: walking in various types of environments; long periods of sitting at computer; and other moderate physical activity.

Requirements:

Bachelors degree desired, however an Associates degree with related experience will also be considered. Minimum two-year degree required.

Additional Information:

This position will require pre-employment background checks and drug & alcohol testing. It is also subject to random drug and alcohol screening. Qualified candidates will be required to take the EEI aptitude assessment (at no cost to candidate).

$26-28/per hour depending on educational and industry experience.
