The Designer/Drafter role is an entry-level position ideal for recent graduates in engineering or architecture. This role involves close collaboration with the sales department to prepare layouts, design calculations, proposals, and provide technical support. Additionally, the Designer/Drafter will work with the projects team on project design, including preparing racking design packages, engineering bills of materials, construction packages, and production drawings.
1. Proposal Preparation: Review client-provided documents and create proposals, including initial layouts and ballasting designs.
2. Technical Problem-Solving: Collaborate with project engineers and managers to identify and resolve technical issues on project sites.
3. Code Compliance: Gain and apply comprehensive knowledge of relevant codes and standards (NBC, IBC, ASCE, SEOAC, UL) to ensure project designs meet all requirements.
4. Tool Development: Develop and/or oversee the creation of tools to automate the proposal generation process.
5. Project Support: Assist in developing final layouts, ballasting plans, construction plans, structural engineering plans, production drawings, and manufacturing BOMs for assigned projects.
