The position of Onsted’s DPW Superintendent is that of a “working supervisor”. This means that you will have primary responsibility for the overall operation, maintenance and appearance of the village. This is not a purely supervisory position. In addition to managing the team of DPW laborers, the DPW Superintendent needs to be a “player/coach” and will be expected to be able to perform their duties, as necessary.
4) Class B CDL w/ Air Brake certification
5) At least 2 years of successful experience in a Public Works department or related position.
6) Able to operate a backhoe and other heavy equipment
8) Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word computer programs.
9) A self-motivator and be able to manage a team as an effective and knowledgeable leader
10) Basic understanding of electrical, mechanical and hydraulics.
11) Basic knowledge of rules and laws regarding the operations and maintenance of WWTP, Water Plants, Roads, Parks.
1) Manage/perform operations and maintenance at the Wastewater Treatment Plant
3) Able to perform all duties and laboratory work required by EGLE to keep Wastewater Treatment Plant in compliance.
4) Manage/perform all operations of the Village’s water system
6) Manage/perform all repairs of water mains and pumps, towers.
7) Manage/perform all maintenance of lift stations and collections system
8) Manage/maintain a proper inventory of chemicals and parts
9) File all monthly reports required by EGLE for the Water system and Wastewater
11) Provide and present a monthly report for the village council.
12) Maintain all roads in the village limits including
a) Snow plowing, salting, scraping and sweeping all streets and community parking areas
b) Clean and maintain storm sewer including catch basins
c) Maintain all road signs and painting of main roads and parking spaces.
13) Schedule all road repairs and assist in the solicitation of bids on major repairs.
14) Oversee contractors hired by the village to perform maintenance or repairs.
15) Manage repairs and maintenance of all the Villages equipment, including trucks, plows, tractors, road sweeper, lawn mowing equipment, hand/power tools.
16) Advise the Village board on all operations and maintenance of the WWTP, Drinking water plants, road repairs, and village park,
17) Must possess a working proficiency in the operation of:
e) Power Tools including but not limited to: chainsaws, cutoff saws, blowers, trimmers
18) Establish daily, weekly and long-term tasks and goals for DPW personnel and self
19) Assign duties to DPW personnel, as required.
20) Cross-train DPW personnel on various operations (Water, Wastewater, etc.)
21) Any and all duties/jobs as assigned by the Village Board.
