Distribution Engineer Responsibilities & Duties
•
Design and develop distribution systems for utilities and services
•
Monitor and maintain distribution network performance
•
Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with standards
•
Troubleshoot and resolve distribution network issues
•
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize distribution processes
•
Oversee the installation and upgrading of distribution equipment
•
Analyze data to improve system efficiency and reliability
•
Ensure all distribution activities adhere to safety regulations
•
Prepare technical reports and documentation
•
Provide technical support and guidance to field crews
•
Manage projects related to distribution network enhancements
•
Coordinate with external partners and stakeholders for system integrations
•
Develop and implement contingency plans for distribution network failures
Distribution Engineer Qualifications & Skills
•
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
•
Engineering in Training EIT
•
Candidate must have Georgia Power experience.
•
Must be familiar with Job Estimating & Scheduling and Planning software
•
5+ years of experience in distribution engineering or related roles
•
Proficiency in distribution management software and tools
•
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
•
Experience with project management methodologies
•
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
•
Knowledge of industry regulations and safety standards
•
Advanced understanding of electrical distribution systems
•
Familiarity with GIS and other mapping tools
•
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
•
Proven track record of successful project delivery
•
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
•
Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification
•
2-3 years of experience in distribution engineering or a similar field
•
Proficient in using CAD software for designing distribution systems
•
Solid understanding of electrical and mechanical principles
•
Ability to conduct thorough site inspections and safety checks
•
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
•
Capability to generate and interpret technical drawings and specifications
•
Effective time management skills for handling multiple projects
•
Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal regulations
•
Familiarity with distribution automation and control systems
•
Excellent problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills
•
Physical ability to conduct fieldwork as required
