Prime Partners Engineering, LLC is a full-service project management, design engineering and dry utility consulting firm. The company has expertise in all aspects of electrical distribution design including residential and commercial projects, utility system improvements, solar, and complex network design. Job Description:
The distribution designer shall analyze the electric circuit, create design and modification of the electric grid, and develop engineering and/or construction plans for service connections, distribution projects, and related work. Experience working on Atlantic City Electric or Delmarva Power systems required.
Primary Duties:
•Perform engineering assignments under the guidance of an experienced engineer or technical advisor.
•Perform field inspections to collect data, perform complex analysis, interpret results, draw conclusions, and present clear recommendations for design solutions.
•Design a variety of overhead and underground utility projects.
•Read and comprehend one-line diagrams and construction blueprints.
•Perform on-site surveys and field sketches.
•Daily use of GIS/GWD, AutoCAD and/or other CAD software.
•Perform basic engineering practices and calculations.
•Communicate daily with internal and external stakeholders to obtain deliverables, requirements, and relevant data to ensure projects are progressing and completed on time.
•Manage and address client questions or concerns and/or complaints in a professional manner.
•Ability to interact and problem solve with Project Managers and Technical Advisors.
•Operate company vehicles in a safe and professional manner.
•Assist in vehicle maintenance (prep work, fueling, cleaning inside and out).
•After completing appropriate training; obtain the ability to direct, coordinate, and perform assignments individually under limited supervision.
Position Requirements:
Minimum:
•Experience working on Atlantic City Electric or Delmarva Power systems
•Associate degree in engineering, Engineering Technology or related field OR two years of college level engineering course work OR the equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
•Experience demonstrating skill using drafting and Computer Aided Drafting software.
•Experience demonstrating skill reading and interpreting construction plans and/or engineering drawings.
•Experience demonstrating skill following technical instructions or procedures (for example, operating procedures, standards, code requirements, specifications).
•Experience demonstrating skill performing mathematical computations involving algebra, trigonometry, and geometry.
•Experience demonstrating skill using PC-based word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail software to perform work functions (for example, communicate with others, create and modify letters, perform calculations).
•Ability and willingness to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as required.
•Ability and willingness to work during emergency conditions and storms as required.
•Ability and willingness to wear and use safety equipment as required by Federal, State, Local and company regulations.
•Ability and willingness to adhere to safety regulations and policies.
•Ability and willingness to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time (for example, lifting, entering/exiting manhole covers, climbing ladders and scaffolding, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, pulling/pushing, standing, walking, and squatting).
•Ability and willingness to work in a variety of work environments including outdoors in all weather conditions, on or around energized equipment, in confined spaces, underground, in heavy traffic and in noisy and dirty environments with proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
•Ability and willingness to travel to various Company locations and work sites.
•Ability and willingness to obtain a DOT card to operate company vehicles.
•Must successfully pass qualification tests.
•Must possess a valid driver's license.
•Must pass the Criminal History Background Check
Preferred:
•Experience demonstrating knowledge of the fundamentals of electricity.
•Experience demonstrating skill using GIS, GWD and/or WMIS (work management information system) to perform work functions (for example, create sketches, maintain accurate data, update the status of projects, create job instructions).
•Experience demonstrating skill initiating and designing engineering solutions for internal and external customer requests.
•Experience demonstrating skill using and maintaining various hand tools and instruments (for example, tape measure, measuring wheel, gas detector, survey instruments).
•Experience demonstrating skill interfacing and coordinating with other departments, companies, and contractors.
•Experience demonstrating skill preparing and modifying documentation such as contract agreements and cost letters.
•Experience demonstrating skill performing outage evaluation in emergency restoration efforts and/or performing secondary roles.
