About the Job
The Director, Safety, Operations and Engineering, has significant experience in natural gas industry operations. to the Director leads teams of AGA staff and member company representatives in developing technical programs, services that benefit natural gas utilities, and serves as the leader for committees and task groups that fall under AGA’s Operating Section. The Director serves as an important contributor to AGA’s Enhanced Peer Review Program, a voluntary initiative that enables natural gas utilities to administer evaluations on other utilities in several gas operations focus topics.
What you will do:
•Serve as AGA’s lead on AGA member company peer reviews.
•Organize and conduct industry workshops, conferences, roundtables, and webinars, including developing agendas, confirming speakers, working through event logistics, leading discussions, and giving presentations.
•Lead AGA staff and/or member company representatives on developing publications, industry position papers, and industry comments for proposed rulemakings.
•Stay abreast of industry developments, particularly those associated with pipeline safety rulemakings
•Lead internal teams and member company representatives in developing and implementing programs to meet AGA’s strategic management objectives. This includes strategy development, background research, technical analysis, and the development of white papers and engineering studies needed to support AGA positions.
•Identify and lead efforts to bring non-dues revenue into AGA, including educational events, new publications, developing appropriate business partnerships, etc.
•Provide mentorship to co-workers.
•Work with the Operating Section technical and advocacy committees, and other groups within AGA to develop AGA positions on high-priority issues impacting member operations and engineering activities.
•Develop and manage budgets for specific areas of responsibility.
•Maintain contact with key staff in appropriate government, standards-developing organizations, research consortiums, and national and regional gas associations.
What you will bring:
•At least 10 years of experience in natural gas industry operations, preferably gas distribution, intrastate transmission or liquified natural gas.
•Awareness of regulations affecting the natural gas industry.
•Ability to communicate technical issues, both orally and in writing to technical and non-technical audiences.
•Ability to organize and conduct a major workshop from start to finish
•Ability to develop and deliver presentations in public forums (conferences, meetings, workshops, etc.)
•Proven history of excellent facilitation skills.
•Ability to successfully work on multi-disciplinary teams to accomplish team goals.
•Approximately 20% domestic travel is required as is the ability to work non-traditional hours when needed.
•Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technical discipline or equivalent life experience.
How we operate:
This role is based in Washington, DC where AGA employees currently have the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule with 3 days in the office and 2 days remotely. The employee’s team determines one day each week, and the employee determines the others.
The Pay and Benefits:
For employees who live in the Washington, DC Metro area, the salary range for this position is $139,870 to $189,236 annually. Candidates are typically hired at a point in their salary range based on prior experience, education, and market demand for the role; employees are also compared internally to their peers.
