A Day in the Life of a Driller at Orbit Garant

As a Driller at Orbit Garant, you'll play a vital role in our operations, working in diverse environments – from the rugged Canadian Shield to underground mine sites. Your typical day might involve:

- Safely position and anchor/stabilize the drill rig in the designated work area.

- Reviewing plans and specifications to ensure accurate and efficient drilling operations.

- Utilizing your expertise to operate hydraulic, electric, or other drills, extracting core samples or creating boreholes with precision.

- Regularly verifying dial controls, pressure, depth, and RPM to optimize drilling performance.

- Performing guidance or orientation tests within the borehole to gather essential data.

- Performing routine maintenance and minor repairs on the drill to ensure optimal functionality.

- Working closely with your Driller Assistant and other team members to maintain efficient and safe drilling operations.

What You'll Do

- Utilize your drilling expertise to extract core samples, create boreholes, and contribute to diverse projects.

- Prioritize safety by adhering to strict protocols, conducting site assessments, and maintaining a safe working environment for yourself and your team.

- Execute drilling operations accurately, ensuring the core samples' integrity and the geological data integrity.

- Conduct regular maintenance and minor repairs on drilling equipment to ensure optimal functionality.

- Collaborate effectively with your Driller Assistant and other team members to achieve project goals.

What You Bring

- Demonstrated experience as a Driller with a strong understanding of drilling techniques and safety protocols.

- Hold relevant certifications, such as Surface or Underground Diamond Driller Common Core, and a valid Standard First Aid and CPR.

- Valid Driver's License: Essential for travelling to and from work sites.

- Ability to work effectively in a team environment, collaborating with your Driller Assistant and colleagues.

- Possess the physical ability, stamina, and mental focus to work in demanding conditions.

- Be prepared to travel to various work sites

- Be comfortable working in a dynamic environment with varying temperatures, conditions, and locations.

Preference will be given to candidates local to the Timmins, Ontario area. However, highly experienced drillers with exceptional qualifications are encouraged to apply, regardless of their current location, provided they are within driving distance to Timmins, Ontario. Please note that no fly-in/fly-out options are available for this role.
