Job Summary
Under direct supervision, the CAD Designer / Drafter is responsible for developing and maintaining 3D CAD models, detailed engineering drawings, and product documentation to support the engineering and manufacturing processes. This role assists engineers with design, prototyping, testing, and process documentation, contributing to the successful development and release of new products.
Job Duties
•Collaborate with development engineers, programmers, and manufacturing engineers to create CAD models and drawings that support prototype development and final product design.
•Generate accurate 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings using industry-standard CAD software.
•Develop component layouts, detailed part drawings, and assembly drawings in accordance with project requirements.
•Assist engineers with troubleshooting efforts related to production issues, prototypes, and process improvements.
•Support engineering teams with testing, process development/modifications, and documentation updates.
•Manage and maintain CAD files, incorporating design changes and engineering revisions as needed.
•Ensure accurate entry of engineering data into the Product Data Management (PDM) system, including establishing appropriate data linkages.
•Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs) for use in production and product implementation.
•Follow established 5S standards to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
•Adhere to all applicable Safety, Environmental, and Quality policies and procedures.
•Perform additional duties and tasks as assigned by management.
Experience and Education
•Completion of an accredited technical program or skilled trades training in drafting/design or a related field.
•0–2 years of relevant work experience in drafting or CAD design.
Competencies/ Skills
•Working knowledge of CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, or equivalent).
•Ability to interpret and apply work instructions, drawings, and specifications.
•Basic understanding of engineering and manufacturing terminology and principles.
•Effective written and verbal communication skills.
•High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
•Basic math skills, including the use of decimals and fractions in measurements.
•Physical ability to lift/move objects and maintain stamina for hands-on tasks.
•Team-oriented mindset with a focus on collaboration and customer service.
