Datacenter Engineer (Construction) – $120,000 – $200,000 Remote
b19 Consulting is partnered with a leading power utility to find a Datacenter Engineer with strong experience supporting mission-critical infrastructure across power generation, transmission, or utility-scale control environments. This is a great opportunity for an engineer who understands the high-availability demands of energy systems and wants to step into a high-impact role within the grid infrastructure space.
The successful Datacenter Engineer (Construction) will have:
- 5+ years of experience in data center operations or critical infrastructure (preferably in the power/utility sector)
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline
- Experience supporting SCADA, EMS/DMS, or grid control systems
- Familiarity with server hardware, structured cabling, PDUs, UPS systems, and environmental controls
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls) and industrial protocols (Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850)
- Experience working within regulatory compliance frameworks such as NERC CIP
- Strong documentation, troubleshooting, and incident response skills
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including IT, OT, and control room operators
- Comfort working in secure facilities and on-call rotationsBonus Skills (not required but a strong plus):
- Certifications such as CompTIA Server+, CCNA, or OEM-specific (e.g., Eaton, SEL)
- Familiarity with cloud-integrated monitoring platforms or edge computing in utility environments
- Prior experience supporting remote or distributed renewable energy sites
- Exposure to virtualization, backup/recovery systems, and infrastructure automation
