Position Summary
We are seeking an entry-level Customer Service Representative I to join our Customer Service Department. This position is the first point of contact for customers at our lobby service counter and drive-through window. The role involves handling payments, answering questions, and resolving routine account issues while providing courteous and professional service.
- Greet and assist customers in person at the lobby and drive-through windows.
- Process payments (cash, check, money orders) and issue receipts.
- Balance cash drawer and reconcile daily transactions.
- Enter customer information accurately into HU’s computer system.
- Answer and transfer phone calls to the appropriate staff or department.
- Respond to questions regarding services, accounts, and billing.
- Assist with mail-in and night deposit payments.
- Create service orders for connections, disconnections, or transfers.
- Perform clerical tasks that support daily department operations.
- Represent Hartselle Utilities in a positive, professional manner.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in customer service, cashiering, or a similar role.
- Experience handling payments and balancing a cash drawer.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic computer applications.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain professional and calm when handling difficult situations.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Must pass a pre-employment background check and random drug screenings.
- Pay range: $18 – $20 per hour (commensurate with experience).
