This position requires an effective team leader to provide the leadership and direction for the Ingot department team of production and maintenance personnel in their efforts to maximize the safe casting and production of a value-added finished product in a cost effective manner. The incumbent must be very proactive in utilizing the coaching concept toward a self-directed work force with emphasis on employee involvement and empowerment.
The incumbent must be computer literate and strong technical knowledge and supervisory experience relative to the casting process. The incumbent should also possess excellent written and oral communication skills. In addition, the incumbent should have fulfilled educational requirements of a four-year college degree in a management related field or the equivalent of six years of technical/supervisory experience and some formal education beyond high school.
Qualifications for this position may be acquired through experience as an hourly employee, technician or prior supervision experience in either and aluminum reduction/casting operation or heavy industry. The incumbent must possess excellent interpersonal team building skills. This position requires excellent communication and creative problem solving skills. This position also requires the coaching concept approach for ownership at the floor level while allowing the team to manage its daily work routines.
This position must be very proactive to participate with the team to create a vision statement, establish boundaries, be a resource for training and development, help solve problems that the team encounters, interface with the crew's external environment, communicate pertinent information to/from the crew and management and administer the Labor Agreement and plant policies.

- Provide direction for the Casting department team to achieve the most effective/efficient use of the resources available to maximize safety, quality, productivity, costs and customer satisfaction.
- Train and develop the team to meet the objectives of the Casting department. Assist the team in establishing team boundaries with emphasis on meeting and/or exceeding both the internal and external customers' expectations.
- Provide direction for the Casting department team to allow ownership to foster and grow within our department at the floor level. Must take a very proactive role in providing direction for shift craftsmen so to increase equipment reliability.
- Provide direction/coaching to insure that the working environment is clean, organized and safe at all times. Provide guidance and support to the department's safety committee to help them manage the day-to-day safety, health and environmental activities of the team.
- Develop, train and guide personnel in safety awareness. Demonstrate through actions and behavior, a personal commitment to safety for the crew to follow.
- Proactively participate in safety program activities to include, but not limited to: thorough accident/incident investigations, formal work place inspections, crew safety meetings and meaningful job observations.
