The corrosion supervisor is r esponsible for the supervision of activities related to corrosion control and pipeline integrity within Division 7 (IL, IA & IN) and other locations as needed. Reporting location will be NGPL Station 113 (Shorewood, IL). Duties may include, but are not limited to:

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

- The proper design, installation, operation, and maintenance of cathodic protection equipment and other corrosion control facilities on high-pressure natural gas pipeline systems.

- The preparation of written documents including action plans, closure reports, technical papers, site-specific plans, bid packages, annual corrosion reviews, emails, budgets, etc.

- Recognize corrosion related concerns and coordinate corrosion control tests, inspections, measurements, surveys, and evaluate data collected to ensure effective operation of corrosion control facilities.

- Supervising the installation and maintenance of corrosion control facilities and applicable record keeping.

- Analyze the corrosion control data as required by regulations, industry standards, and company procedures.

- Analyze corrosion control data collected into the American Innovations Pipeline Compliance System software program.

- Lead efforts to design and implement effective long term cathodic protection systems.

- Lead and assist with the development of cost estimates, drawings, job specifications and contract bid documents for the completion of capital improvement projects.

- Assist with the implementation and validation of the company pipeline integrity program.

- Specify appropriate painting and coating systems.

- Participate in regulatory and company inspections/audits.

- Assist local management with corrosion control status reviews.

- Provide corrosion control subject matter expertise as necessary to support division assets.

- Other duties as requested.


Position Requirements

Minimum Requirements: Education

- Associate degree in a technical discipline such as electrical, electronic or electro-mechanical from an accredited school, or equivalent.


Experience/specific Knowledge

- A minimum of five (5) years experience in pipeline corrosion control.


Certifications, Licenses, Registrations

- NACE CP-2 or higher.

- Strong leadership and communication skills, both written and verbal.

- Strong math skills to perform budget reconciliation and engineering calculations as necessary.

- Must be able to work safely and effectively manage corrosion control/pipeline integrity activities in districts that include both rural and densely populated areas.

- Ability to effectively organize, plan, prioritize, document, and complete work with a minimum of supervision in an acceptable time frame.

- Ability to work in a team environment, take direction from management, keep required job schedules and focus on details.

- Effective analytical and troubleshooting skills.

- Strong computer skills (MS operating system, MS Word, MS Excel, etc.).

- Ability to analyze complex cathodic protection data.

- Required to maintain technical proficiency.

- Ability to maintain a valid drivers license, meet company insurability requirements and safely operate motor vehicles.

- Required to carry a communication device and maintain contact with company staff as necessary.

- Working knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems.

- Knowledge of 49 CFR Part 192 regulations and requirements.

- Knowledge of NACE standards.

- Experience in external corrosion control and monitoring practices.

- Experience with in-line inspections, close interval surveys, and interference testing.

- Experience in cathodic protection design.

- Experience with coating systems and specifications.

- Experience with NDT techniques/inspections.

- Acceptable history of safe work practices.


Physical Demands

- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and walk over uneven terrain. Extended periods of sitting, standing, walking or driving may be necessary.


Working Conditions

- Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions. Required to respond to after hours emergencies as necessary. Required to travel (approximately 25%). Required to work long hours as necessary.


Supervisory Responsibility

- Supervise a team of technicians as well as contractors and inspect 3rd party construction/work activities as needed.

Preferred Education, Experience, Certifications, Competencies, Skills And Abilities

- NACE CP-3 certification or higher. Experience in all phases of corrosion control and pipeline integrity.

- Experience with corrosion related computer software: American Innovations PCS/CPDM, KAPA, etc.

- Knowledge of Kinder Morgan company policies and practices.

- Knowledge and experience with safe gas handling practices.

- Knowledge of National Electrical Code philosophies and installation requirements.

- Knowledge of SCC identification/characterization.

- Experience with corrosion control of natural gas storage or gathering fields.

- Experience with induced AC interference and AC mitigation systems.

- Experience with complex DC stray current interference mitigation.

Compensation

Pay range: $123,100 - $150,800 per year. This position includes a discretionary annual incentive plan. Job level and pay commensurate with experience and skill set.
