Position Description
Manage the safe, cost-effective, and reliable corrosion control program for the assigned pipeline assets. Oversee planning, execution, and continuous improvement of corrosion prevention and mitigation strategies across all facilities and personnel within the division, including oversight of the annual corrosion control budget.
Ensure assigned assets maintain compliance with all applicable corrosion-related regulations and standards. Areas of responsibility include Division 11, 16, and 5 within the Central Region Texas assets, with personnel reporting throughout the region. The work location for this position will be based in Wharton, TX.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead the Corrosion Technical Team supporting the integrity and reliability of pipeline facilities.
- Ensure implementation and enforcement of company corrosion control policies, procedures, and standards.
- Recommend updates to corrosion-related guidelines and procedures to meet regulatory and operational goals.
- Set objectives for corrosion-related operating and capital budgets and review monthly forecasts.
- Oversee contractor activities related to corrosion surveys, remediation, and installations to protect company assets.
- Review progress and adjust priorities and schedules to ensure timely and efficient completion of corrosion-related work.
- Participate in staff selection, promotions, salary reviews, disciplinary actions, and performance evaluations.
- Develop short- and long-term corrosion control plans and goals aligned with Division 11’s reliability strategy.
- Stay current on industry developments, technologies, and regulatory changes related to corrosion.
- Coordinate corrosion program activities with other departments, regulatory agencies, and customers.
- Ensure compliance with PHMSA, EPA, and other applicable regulations affecting corrosion control.
- Support security and safety measures related to corrosion monitoring and mitigation systems.
- Collaborate on design and construction of new facilities and upgrades with corrosion control considerations.
- Interact with customers and stakeholders to coordinate corrosion-related activities.
- Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns related to corrosion.
- Oversee pipeline integrity assessments, cathodic protection systems, and coating inspections.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Position Requirements
Educational Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field, or ten years of equivalent corrosion-related experience.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and driving record satisfactory to the Company and its insurers.
Experience, Skills, & Knowledge
- Working knowledge of PHMSA, NACE, and OSHA regulations related to corrosion control to include both internal and external.
- Strong understanding of pipeline integrity, cathodic protection systems, coatings, and corrosion monitoring technologies.
- Ability to implement projects that improve asset reliability and reduce long-term maintenance costs.
- Experience outlining project requirements and monitoring progress to ensure objectives are met.
- Intermediate computer skills (MS Office, corrosion modeling software, and company systems).
- Strong analytical and math skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective personnel management and delegation skills.
- Strong customer focus and ability to collaborate across departments.

- Periodic travel required based on pipeline system and operational needs.
- Familiarity with company procedures and government regulations relevant to corrosion and integrity.
- Experience in natural gas industry corrosion control, coatings, cathodic protection, and inspection technologies.
- Understanding of gas processing fundamentals and corrosion risks.
- Experience with high-pressure systems and corrosion mitigation in compressor stations and pipelines.
- Supervisory experience and strong leadership, communication, and technical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead toward operational excellence.
