Position Summary

A career in Corrosion will provide the opportunity to inspect, operate, and protect the systems and distribution services relating to corrosion of pipelines.

Roles within Corrosion are responsible for all fieldwork relating to gas services. This includes, directing, coordinating, implementing, and planning distribution activities relating to the gas service customers (residential and commercial). The team is also responsible for all under-ground pipeline distribution and above-ground maintenance and/or measurement. The team is responsible for managing relationships with multiple municipalities

Essential Function:

Performs annual cathodic protection surveys and monitoring of the company’s underground steel facilities and corrosion control devices in accordance with applicable Federal and State regulations.

Duties:

- Under general supervision, obtains electrical measurements on the system to determine and verify cathodic protection levels on steel distribution mains, individual service lines and transmission pipeline.

- Accurately records all data and reports all irregular and non-compliant conditions.

- Perform routine minor and maintenance of cathodic protection test stations and test wires as needed.

- Applies a learned familiarity with applicable federal, state and local codes.

- Inspects contractors and others work in the installation of corrosion control facilities as directed.

- Reads, adjusts and inspects system rectifiers.

- Maintains corrosion map plates, records and/or PC database information.

- Performs duties inherent in technical positions.

- Consistent with all positions in this classification, additional projects, tasks and/or duties beyond what is outlined here may be assigned as required.

Qualifications

Required Background:

- High School Diploma or GED along with one year of technical training or relevant experience.

Required Skills:

- Good communication and interpersonal skills; self-discipline and the ability to work independently with general supervision.

Preferred Skills:

- Technical knowledge of electricity and/or electrochemistry with a basic understanding of Ohm’s Law, AC and DC electrical fundamentals.

- General knowledge of natural gas operations and/or facility maintenance.

- AMPP/NACE CP-1 or CP-2 Certification

Compensation Range:

$23 - 37

We are committed to pay transparency and ensuring equitability compensation for all employees. The pay range for this position reflects the base salary only and does not include benefits, bonuses, or other forms of compensation that might be part of the total compensation package. The specific salary offered will be based on a candidate’s qualifications, education, and experience.
