About This Job

Cobb EMC has an exciting opportunity for a Coordinator, Apparatus & Automation

to supervise the installation, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all apparatus field and substation equipment and electronic devices that support Cobb EMC’s system automation efforts. To supervise the installation, wiring, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of substation breakers, voltage regulators, breaker and voltage regulator control panels, and non-SCADA controlled switchgears. To supervise the installation of control wiring and cabinets, testing, scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of automated and automatic switchgears, VFI’s, and PST-9’s. To supervise the installation of control wiring and cabinets, testing, scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of AGOD’s, vacuum sectionalizers and interrupters, Nova switches, and IED’s. To supervise the installation of splicing, and termination of fiber optic cables, both in substations and at field devices, in support of Cobb EMC’s electrical distribution connectivity objectives.

What you will be doing Fiber Technologies

•

Supervise the installation, splicing, and termination of fiber optic cables, both in substations and at field locations, in support of Cobb’s substation and field device connectivity objectives.

•

Supervise the installation, splicing, and termination fiber of optic cables for IED’s, SCADA Network Terminal Units and RTACs.

•

Supervise the installation, splicing, and termination of 144/288-count fiber.

•

Supervise the installation, splicing, and termination of 48/144/288-count patch panels into substation SCADA cabinets.

•

Supervise the installation, splicing, and termination of 12-count into 144-count connections for electrical distribution field switches.

•

Supervise the installation, splicing, and termination of multi-mode fiber connections used in electrical distribution systems, including SCADA cabinet to substation breaker connections, SCADA cabinet to substation regulators connections, and SCADA cabinet to MPLS connections.

•

Supervise the correct testing of fiber installations using an optical time domain reflectometer (O.T.D.R.).

•

Supervise fiber project installations and schedules with internal and external contracted resources.

Apparatus Substation & Field Equipment, Electronic Devices

•

Supervise the scheduling, installation, wiring, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of substation breakers, voltage regulators, breaker and voltage regulator control panels, SCADA equipment, and other substation devices.

•

Supervise the installation of control wiring and cabinets, testing, scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of field devices such as non-SCADA PMH-9/10/13 switchgears, non-SCADA (automatic) switchgears, PST-9 switchgears, and VFI pad mounted switchgears.

•

Supervise the wiring of SCADA, backup power supplies, and control schemes on new power substations and circuit additions.

•

Supervise the servicing, testing, and calibration of load and voltage monitoring equipment, including relays, transducers, transmitters, receivers, remote meter equipment, and regulator control panels.

•

Supervise the operation of test equipment for all devices.

•

Supervise the bypassing, servicing, testing, programming, and operating substation and field apparatus as well as various line sectionalizing equipment.

•

Supervise the installation of control wiring and cabinets, testing, scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of automated and automatic switchgears, vacuum sectionalizers and interrupters, AGOD’s, PMH-9/10/13 switchgears, Nova switches, VIPER (AER’s), and IED’s.

•

Supervise the servicing, testing, and troubleshooting of remote SCADA installations.

•

Supervise the troubleshooting and repair of communication systems (220MHz, 900MHz and Spread Spectrum installations).

•

Supervise the programming, testing, and troubleshooting of Versa Tech and Trip Saver reclosers.

•

Supervise the installation, maintenance, repair, splicing, and testing of fiber optics systems.

Collective Responsibilities

•

Supervise the team in processing transformers, reclosers, breakers, and other devices for shipment, either for maintenance, sale, or decommissioning.

•

Supervise the team in managing, properly storing, documenting, and preparing for shipment PCB contaminated transformers and non-hazardous oil-contaminated media per EPA guidelines.

•

Coordinate cross-training activities.

•

Supervise the team in researching future distribution devices.

•

Assist with member facing education and community projects e.g. science, technology, engineering, and mathematics events (STEM).

•

Assist Manager of Apparatus with yearly budget preparation and careful monitoring of expenses.

Supervision

•

Handle all aspects of employment for subordinate staff, including hiring, promotion, training, and termination.

•

Appropriately document actions in employment issues.

•

Coach and direct learning through direct involvement and reinforcement.

•

Analyze and manage daily workload and schedules.

•

Monitor performance and conduct performance planning and review sessions.

•

Ensure fair and consistent treatment of departmental employees.

•

Actively support the efforts and intent of Equal Employment Opportunity.

Other Responsibilities

•

Ensure and assist in training of subordinate staff.

•

Assist supervisor and Safety Department in training and instructing Apparatus Technicians and Line crews.

•

Develop curriculum and conduct training classes on new equipment for the Safety Department.

•

Prepare and meet yearly section budget, ensuring expenditures are well documented and necessary.

Minimum Requirements

•

Vocational/Technical school diploma in electronics, electrical engineering technology, fiber technologies, or related field; or a combination of relevant education & equivalent work experience.

•

Minimum seven (7) years of experience with the installation, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electric utility apparatus field and substation equipment (e.g. breakers and regulators), and electronic devices.

•

Successfully pass the written knowledge assessment.

•

Successfully complete the demonstrated skills assessment rubric.

•

Experienced in safety related work practices and procedures for daily operations and emergency situations.

•

Experienced in substation switching and test procedures.

•

Experienced in troubleshooting communication channel outs and outages for electrical distribution equipment.

•

Experienced in the installation and maintenance of substation and apparatus line equipment and SCADA.

•

Experienced in installing and testing multi-mode fiber connections used in electrical distribution systems, including SCADA cabinet to substation breaker connections, SCADA cabinet to substation regulators connections, SCADA cabinet to MPLS connections.

•

Experienced in optical time domain reflectometer (O.T.D.R.) usage in fiber optics testing.

•

Experienced in the installation and maintenance of fiber optics systems.

•

Knowledge of the proper handling, assessment, and clean-up of hazardous materials.

•

Knowledge of the National Electric Code.

•

Ability to read and interpret schematics / blueprints.

•

Proficiency with personal computers

•

Possess an Integrated Transmission System (ITS) 5-Day Operator's Certification.

Possess valid Class A Commercial Georgia driver's license and relevant endorsements.
