Job Description

Controls engineers perform a vital role in designing and developing systems for manufacturing operations. They may design layout, materials and information flow, or machine placement. They may also be responsible for increasing production efficiency by evaluating performance and proposing and implementing improvements.

In the role of a controls engineer, you will oversee the production of various types of equipment and systems. An important competency in this position is to research, test, and analyze ideas for possible system and process improvements. Success in this role will be demonstrated by meeting safety and quality standards while driving revenue increases through improved production processes.

Your Responsibilities

•

Ensure safety compliance standards are met by understanding and enforcing safety compliance.

•

Plans preventive maintenance.

•

Troubleshoots problems with processes and hardware.

•

Coordinates with others in order to determine problems and implement solutions.

•

Provides technical assistance as needed by internal customers.

•

Manages relations with vendors.

•

Defines performance metrics.

•

System design: Optimizing the layout, design, and placement of devices and equipment.

•

System testing: Testing and troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems.

•

System programming: Setting up, programming, and modifying electrical controls, circuitry, and equipment.

•

System maintenance: Maintaining existing controls and ensuring they work safely and efficiently.

•

System support: Providing technical support and instruction to organization members.

•

System installation: Providing support for system installation and on-site start-up and debugging.

•

System improvement: Evaluating performance and proposing and implementing improvements to increase production efficiency.

•

Generate project requests (Capital & Major Expense), specify components, create, modify and update electrical drawings, compile bills of material and prepare process control/ standard work descriptions.

•

All other duties assigned.

What You'll Need To Have

•

BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering. (Can be working towards, but must have acceptable completion time).

•

3-5+ years of proven experience in controls programming and engineering.

•

3+ years Auto-CAD/ drawing experience.

•

Excellent analytical problem-solving skills.

•

Proven history of innovative solutions and successful projects.

•

Ability to determine customer needs to develop project specifications and scope, customer oriented.

•

Ability to interpret and implement specifications.

It Would Be Great If You Have

•

Aluminum extrusion experience.

•

Continuous Improvement experience.

•

Programming knowledge of Rockwell/ Allen Bradley automation products CompactLogix, ControlLogix, FactoryTalk, Panel View Plus, Logix5000 Ethernet/ IP communications, and Allen Bradley 525 frequency drives.
