About This Job

WestCorp Solutions Ltd. is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer or Technologist to support our client’s site operations near Regina, SK. This role plays a key part in maintaining and optimizing automation systems, control logic, and safety instrumentation in a plant environment. The ideal candidate will be local.

Key Accountabilities

•

Provide technical support in troubleshooting and diagnosing automation system issues.

•

Perform design, implementation, and testing of control logic changes in alignment with MOC (Management of Change) processes and internal control system standards.

•

Assess the impact of overrides and control forces on safety and control systems; apply changes following site procedures.

•

Conduct routine system health checks and respond to identified issues to maintain continuous and safe plant operation.

•

Perform system maintenance activities on Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), and control network equipment.

•

Support commissioning activities, ensuring seamless integration of new systems and updates.

•

Contribute to troubleshooting and upgrades across control networks, including Modbus and TCP/IP systems.

Qualifications

•

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Automation, Electrical, Instrumentation) or a diploma in Engineering Technology related to industrial automation.

•

Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) is required.

•

Familiarity with Honeywell Experion DCS, Triconex SIS, Modbus communication protocols, HAZOP processes, and TCP/IP networking is an asset.

•

Prior experience supporting control systems in a plant or industrial environment is preferred.

•

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in small, high-performance teams.

•

Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and documentation skills.

•

Meticulous attention to detail when implementing changes to prevent unintended process or safety impacts.

•

Self-motivated, reliable, and able to manage tasks with minimal supervision.
