The Control Engineer
plays a critical role in the design, programming, testing, integration, and
commissioning of control systems for energy storage and data center power infrastructure
projects. This role will collaborate closely with internal engineering, project management, and
field service teams to ensure that all automation and SCADA systems meet safety, functionality,
and performance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop PLC and HMI software for control of energy storage and distributed
- Configure and integrate SCADA systems for BESS and power infrastructure projects
- Support development and implementation of control system architectures and functional
- Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs)
- Troubleshoot and debug control systems both remotely and on-site
- Ensure cybersecurity and compliance with relevant electrical and control standards (e.g.,
- Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and operational phases
- Interface with clients, vendors, and field teams for control system documentation and
- Support the selection and integration of hardware (controllers, relays, meters, network
devices)
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Automation, or related
field
- 3–7 years of hands-on experience in control systems engineering, preferably in power
- Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider) and
- Familiarity with communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850, OPC-UA)
- Experience with BESS, generators, switchgear, or microgrids is highly preferred
- Working knowledge of network architecture and industrial cybersecurity
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to be hands-on in field environments
- Fluent in English; Spanish is a plus
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or pursuing licensure
- Experience in data center controls, DERMS integration, or EMS platforms
- Familiarity with commissioning processes, testing, and validation of electrical systems
- Travel availability (up to 30%) for project support in the U.S. and Latin America
