Responsibilities
Basic Purpose
Performs advanced level management of pre-commercial and commercial energy supply contracts per the terms and conditions, including completion of contractually required milestones, acceptance of commercial operation, compliance, dispute resolution and the invoice settlement function for long-term renewable and non-renewable contracts and agreements. Coordinates and implements solutions for issues related to integration of battery technology in long-term power purchase agreements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•Manages and leads the most complex issues in the contracts group. Responds to data requests submitted by internal and external customers.
•Performs training for new staff in the department and ensures they remain informed on all related policies and procedures.
•Manages contractual disputes related to new and existing development and other contract matters.
Contract Project Management / Long-Term Renewable Power Purchase Agreements
•Ensures pre-commercial long-term renewable power purchase agreements are planned, executed and monitored. Tracks pre-commercial construction performance milestones and leads meetings with suppliers. Identifies and assesses project risks and develops advanced mitigation strategies in collaboration with project team, Legal and counterparty. Manages accurate and up-to-date contract documentation. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards and contract terms through commercial operation of renewable facility.
Renewable and Non-Renewable Energy Agreements
•Manages and documents the tracking, fulfillment, and enforcement of contractual obligations for renewable Power Purchase Agreements, non-renewable long-term Power Purchase Agreements, and Transportation Service Agreements. Liaise with counterparty and legal to resolve disputes and finalize contract amendments and metering agreements. Oversees contract terminations. Identifies and assesses potential risks associated with contracts and performance; develops strategies to mitigate risk and ensures continuity of supply.
•Develops and maintains business processes, systems, applications and invoicing software to measure contract performance; coordinates on-time payments with accounts payable. Develops customized invoice models for power purchase agreements.
•Coordinates and implements contractual and operational solutions for issues related to integration of battery technology in power purchase agreements.
•Estimates and forecasts power production for long-term power purchase agreements, for calculation and analysis of financial accruals; tracks and verifies trends in performance and coordinates with counterparty for verification. Prepare monthly accrual documentation for leadership and accounting. Complete reviews for submittal of accruals.
•Manages specialized energy supply agreements for large customers. Tracks renewable energy credits sales; manages monthly settlement process.
•Coordinates with Resource Optimization, Legal, Risk Management and external counterparties.
•Manages process to set up and executes Energy Master Trading Agreements. Manages the confirmation process; reviews, records, and files executed confirmations. Participates in RFP process with Resource Optimization.
Generation Contracts
•Manages contracts for goods and services to support statewide thermal Generation fleet. Leads expiring contract meetings to determine if services, goods and materials are still needed.
•Monitors and tracks contractual and vendor performance, and compliance.
•Facilitates contract modifications, extensions and change orders.
Compliance, Reporting and Regulatory
•Prepares and submits data for annual 10-K financial reporting. Analyzes financial data to identify trends, anomalies and potential issues.
•Prepares and submits data for statutorily required filings with regulator. Develop narrative and exhibits for regulatory filings.
•Prepares complex energy capacity reporting. Analyzes and identifies critical concepts, trends and issues.
•Responds to and addresses external audit data requests from suppliers.
•Develops detailed responses to internal and regulator data requests for managed energy contracts.
Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Essential Education, Skills, and Environment
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school and 7 years of related experience.
Candidates that do not possess a bachelor’s degree must have a minimum of 11 years of related work experience.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated knowledge of:
•Energy industry with emphasis on energy supply, renewable energy, contracts and invoice settlements.
Skills such as:
•Analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
•Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
•Creating complex spreadsheets to track performance.
•Multi-tasking and working in both a team-oriented environment and independently.
Equipment and Applications
PCs, Microsoft Office, spreadsheet and database software.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
General office environment. No special physical demands required.
Compensation
Annual Salary: $103,800 (Min) to $122,000 (Mid); Up to 15% Short Term Incentive Plan target opportunity at the discretion of the company. This is a non-represented position.
