Job Summary
The Construction Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the safety and compliance of all construction activities on-site with our underground utility construction and water & wastewater utility company. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs that adhere to industry standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of construction management practices, risk management, and occupational health principles to foster a safe working environment for all employees.
Responsibilities
•Develop and implement comprehensive safety policies and procedures in alignment with OSHA regulations and best practices.
•Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
•Collaborate with project managers to integrate safety protocols into construction management processes.
•Provide training and guidance to staff on safety practices, emergency response procedures, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
•Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
•Maintain accurate records of safety training, incidents, inspections, and compliance reports.
•Serve as the primary point of contact for all safety-related inquiries on the construction site.
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Occupational Health & Safety, or environmental science, engineering, water & sewer resources or similar field is preferred but not required if have a minimum of 3 years relevant experience in Construction Safety & Management.
•Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and similar state & local regulations, workers' compensation laws, and risk management strategies preferred.
•Familiarity with construction management software to track safety metrics and compliance documentation.
•Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively train diverse teams on safety protocols.
•Strong analytical skills to assess risks and develop mitigation strategies for a safe work environment.
•Certification in safety management (e.g., CSP, CHST) is a plus.
