Minimum Requirements - Construction Inspector
Education and Experience
•Associate Degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
•Minimum 4 years of related work experience.
•Any equivalent combination of certifications, education, or experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
Licenses, Registration, and Certifications
•Completion of internal GPS training certification within 6 months of hire.
•Must be able to possess and maintain a valid Class ‘R’ Colorado driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record.

•NACE Level I Industrial Coating Inspector, or Water Distribution Operator Class 2, -
(ability to obtain any within 20 months of hire)
•Completion of internal GPS training certification within 6 months of hire.

Denver Water’s EngineeringDivision/Construction Management Section is currently seeking a qualified candidate to assist us as either a Construction Inspector OR Construction Sr. Inspector. The level of this position will be determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate.
The Construction Inspector (CI) will be working under general supervision, and will be assigned to one or more of Denver Water’s Capital Projects. These projects cover a wide variety of work located throughout the state and may include: treatment plants, pipelines, pump stations, hydroelectric facilities, dam outlet works, commercial buildings, civil and landscaping projects, valve vaults, electrical, instrumentation & control systems, cathodic protection, security, communication and fire alarm systems, and corrosion control projects.
Position Summary - Construction Inspector
Under general supervision the Construction Inspector is responsible for performing specialized inspection work on construction/capital projects, or numerous develop/owner, distributor and interagency projects for different sections of the Engineering Division. Responsible for quality assurance and ensuring contractor’s work conforms to Denver Water standards and compliance with specifications, codes and regulations.
Position Summary - Construction Sr. Inspector
Construction Sr. Inspector is responsible for performing specialized inspection work overseeing large complex and multi-disciplinary construction/capital projects, or numerous develop/owner, distributor and interagency projects for different sections of the Engineering Division and is a subject matter expert in the area of construction. Responsible for quality assurance and ensuring contractor’s work conforms to Denver Water standards and compliance with specifications, codes and regulations.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does have formal supervisory responsibilities over other employees.
•If the position will supervise, career progression is not an option.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities – Construction Inspector
•With minimal oversight, perform all aspects of inspection work and oversee a variety of construction activities with regard to capital and other assigned projects.
•Identifies inconsistencies, defects, potential pitfalls, and substandard work in the construction process, determines acceptable methods to correct situations with a contractor, project manager, or engineer, and oversees the repair or replacement of non-conforming work to ensure compliance with DW Engineering Standards, Contract Documents, and other industry standards and codes.
•Monitor field directives and changes.
•Serves as the main point of contact on a capital project worksite and coordinates construction activities with Operations and other internal and external groups.
•Observe safety operations and communicate emanate and potential safety hazards to appropriate personnel.
•Ensures Contractor’s quality control program is implemented.
•Prepare detailed daily activity and progress reports, project photos and logs, punch-lists, and other required construction documentation. Assist in surveying activities and collecting survey grade accurate as-built GNSS data.
•Assists with material sampling and testing, is knowledgeable of the requirements and with help from subject matter experts, assists with administering corrective measures for non-compliance.
•Responsible for scheduling, conducting and attending a variety of construction meetings to provide input and assistance with interpreting specifications, drawings, and other technical coordinating, and administrative details.
•Act as liaison between the customer, contractor, Water Distribution, Master Meter Districts, Intergovernmental Agencies, Developer and Engineer providing necessary planning and coordination as needed.
•Responsible for submitting accurate, legible as-constructed drawings and applicable notes that become the source of a permanent record for final archive.
•Develop and update spreadsheets as necessary for inspection activities.
•Perform related work as required.
