The City of Fayette is accepting applications for a full-time Building Inspector and Code Enforcement Officer.
The Building Inspector and Code Enforcement Officer is responsible for performing technical inspections to ensure that residential, commercial, and industrial construction complies with applicable codes, zoning, ordinances, and regulations. This position ensures the health, safety, and welfare of the public by enforcing universal building, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical codes and standards. Code Enforcement duties for this position will include the enforcement of municipal, nuisance, and property maintenance codes. Technical and clerical duties relating to permit inquiries, processing, and reporting at City Council meetings. Work will be conducted in the office and the field. This position reports directly to the Fayette City Administrator.
High School diploma or GED required; associate’s degree or technical training in construction technology, architecture, engineering, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in building inspection, construction, or a related field.
ICC (International Code Council) certification as a Residential or Commercial Building Inspector (ICC B1/ICCB2) or must be able to be obtained within a year of employment.
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
$20+ per hour/20 - 25 hours per week
