Spartan is seeking an individual to fulfill the responsibilities of a Completions Engineer
to join the Drilling & Completions team. This role is primarily responsible for the planning and execution of completion operations in a safe and environmentally responsible manner that remains compliant with all government regulations. Experience in Deep Basin operations and water management would be considered an asset. This is a full-time, in-office position based in Calgary with regular field trips expected.
- Oversee completion operations within a specific area and work closely with field staff to optimize costs and operations
- Be on call 24/7 for fracture monitoring and response to field troubleshooting
- Evaluate costs, designs and operational execution
- Keep up with leading Completion technology and implement trials
- Prepare well reviews and lookbacks of existing Completions to continually optimize designs
- Collaborate with multiple departments within the company to ensure the efficient flow of information between office and field
- Work to develop and maintain water sourcing in areas
- Ensure and demonstrate capital costs are industry leading
- Maintain strong working relationships with key service providers
- Interact daily with field wellsite supervisors on operational aspects
- Prepare accurate scoping, budget and AFE cost estimates
- Foster a safe workplace, protecting people, environment, and reputation by ensuring Spartan’s policies and procedures are in place, followed and verified during operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with APEGA membership
- Experienced Professional Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of industry experience, preferably in Completions. Drilling exposure would be considered an asset
- Duvernay completions experience would be considered an asset
- Strong knowledge of horizonal well completions, workovers and concurrent pad operations
- Ability to write and implement subsurface programs
- Strong understanding of offset competitor designs
- Ability to work in a fast paced, demanding and dynamic work environment
- Excellent knowledge of regulatory guidelines in Alberta
- Ability to manage multiple ongoing operations
- Strong initiative, problem solving and proven project management skills
- Expertise in multiple software platforms including Microsoft Office, AFENav, PetroSight, Spotfire, OpenInvoice, Geoscout
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interact with field personnel as well as Executives
