As a member of the Total Rewards team, a career as a Compensation Analyst will provide you the opportunity to participate in the design, implementation, and communication of SJI’s broad-based compensation strategy, plans, and policies. You will analyze organizational data to produce metrics and conduct internal and external market analysis to determine competitive positioning of our pay programs. In addition, you will be responsible for participating in annual salary administration programs, including annual merit increases, bonus payments, budgets, salary structures, and survey participation. You will be responsible for participating in and examining all compensation related decisions managed by the HR function while partnering with leaders, managers, and employees to drive the business as it relates to SJI’s people and organizational effectiveness. You will work closely with the SJI Compensation team to advance strategic projects, enhance programs, streamline operations, and strengthen employees’ total rewards experience.
- Serves as project lead in managing the design, development, implementation, and administration of compensation programs across SJI.
- Leads competitive analysis projects – determining the strategy for gathering and synthesizing market and internal data, creating dynamic models to assess the impact of design decisions, and developing persuasive presentations to influence key stakeholders.
- Assists in the development and administration of other compensation and total rewards plans to include Annual Compensation Planning and Total Rewards programs, Job Architecture, and Sales Incentive programs.
- Monitors the effectiveness of existing compensation practices and recommends changes that are cost-effective and consistent with compensation trends and company objectives.
- Designs creative solutions to specific compensation-related programs.
- Collaborates with talent acquisition and HR business partners, providing insights and recommendations on compensation matters that both support business goals and ensure market competitiveness to develop competitive offer packages for hires.
- Develops and communicates tools and policies that support our pay philosophy.
- Manages overlap of priorities, resources, and other risks/issues with compensation program agenda.
- Provides advice on pay decisions, equity, transparency, policy, interpretation, and job architecture.
- Partners with the Comp Team in managing the annual benchmarking process.
- Assists with the completion of compensation surveys, dashboards, and other ad-hoc analyses, and obtains market intelligence on the practices of our competitors.
- Reviews and recommends new and emerging compensation technology solutions to aid in compensation and total rewards analysis and design.
- Leads process improvement efforts leveraging strategy, project management and execution.
- Develops and provides training to people leaders on our compensation philosophy.
- Proven experience understanding, developing, and modifying job architecture
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven track record of data modeling and competitive analysis across large datasets
- Solid oral and written communication skills with the ability to relay complex information in easily understood language
- Ability to build engaging professional relationships with all levels of employees across the organization
- Established consultative skills to build trust and influence stakeholders
- Knowledge of compensation regulations and industry trends
- Proven history of strong organizational and time-management skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge
- Ability to lead presentations and training sessions
- Proven project management experience supporting Compensation initiatives
- Experience working in a corporate environment supporting large scale initiatives and enhancing innovation within a Total Rewards function
- Well-rounded knowledge of broad-based Compensation best practices and policies, Sales Compensation experience preferred
- Knowledge of HR software and reporting, preferably Workday
- Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of relevant experience, or;
- Master’s degree with 6 years of relevant experience.
- Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
