The Communication Consultant will lead the development and delivery of strategic communications for Enbridge Gas Utah unit and leaders and will collaborate with communicators supporting other Enbridge leaders.
What you will do:
- Provide strategic communications guidance and advice to executives and cross-functional internal teams including legal and operations to develop and deliver effective communications and outreach strategies on the most complex and challenging company initiatives.
- Develops and maintains strategic business partnerships, assisting in managing internal, external, and community issues.
- Develop and deliver locally focused external communications, media relations and advocacy to achieve public support for critical business initiatives and ensure successful outcomes analytics to measure success.
- Lead the development and delivery of the regional/jurisdictional engagement plan.
- Support the Regional VP/General Manager with speech development and execution, thought-leadership events.
- Liaise with broader PACS teammates to ensure awareness and alignment of planned and reactionary activities.
- Maintain and build strong relationships with reporters and editors within the Enbridge Gas Utah/Wyoming/Idaho service territory.
- Lead the assessment and response to incoming medial enquiries including determining appropriate spokesperson, developing key messages, interview preparation and acting as spokesperson on issues, where appropriate. Coach spokespeople and SMEs on media engagements.
- Lead the execution of media relations strategies for Enbridge Gas’ business initiatives including proactive media outreach (media pitches, letters to the editor, opinion editorials) to enhance company brand on corporate initiatives e.g., safety, natural gas advocacy, customer service, regulatory and government policy issues.
- Serves as the communications project manager, on assigned initiatives, for targeted communications with various internal and external stakeholders.
- Identifies and implements appropriate communication channels and tactics to reach stakeholders, supporting major initiatives.
- Communicates to stakeholders, promoting and influencing their support of initiatives across all corporate communication channels.
- Provides internal and external advocacy and communications support, driving desired actions to local, state, and federal government, media, civic, and other policy influencers.
- Support emergency response organization from a crisis communications perspective as an ICS trained Public Information Officer with rotational on-call responsibilities.
- Respond to media requests as they relate to emergency response items; liaise with the field and Dispatch, develop key messages, review responses with Operations.
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
- At least 7-8 years of communications or related experience. Note: A Master's degree will count as one year of experience. A partial year of six months or more will be rounded up to one year.
- Demonstrated expertise at leading, developing and executing full-cycle communication campaigns.
- Fully adept at communicating persuasively, advocating, and developing rapport.
- Proven leadership skills in leading teams and direct agency partners.
- Strong ability to define problems, collect data, and develop strategy.

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:
Preferred Disciplines: Business, Communications, Marketing, Mass Communication, Public Policy & Administration.
