Reporting directly to the VP, Project Engineering & Construction, or their designate, the Commissioning Manager will lead the planning and execution of commissioning activities for the Eskay Creek Project, ensuring all systems and infrastructure are safely and effectively transitioned from construction to operational readiness. This role is essential in validating performance and ensuring the safe and timely commissioning and ramp-up of site infrastructure and process operations.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive commissioning plan covering pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, and ramp-up phases.
- Define system handover priorities and coordinate walkdowns, punch lists, and acceptance protocols.
- Oversee day-to-day commissioning activities, managing multidisciplinary teams including engineers, technicians, vendors, and contractors.
- Ensure commissioning activities align with project specifications, safety standards, and operational goals.
- Collaborate with EPCM contractors, automation partners, and vendors to ensure seamless integration of systems.
- Schedule and manage vendor call-outs for specialized equipment commissioning.
- Validate system functionality and performance through rigorous testing and documentation.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols including Permit to Work, Lock-Out/Tag-Out, and emergency response procedures.
- Ensure compliance with environmental permits, regulatory standards, and corporate policies.
- Identify and mitigate commissioning-related risks proactively.
- Prepare systems for final inspection and handover to operations.
- Maintain detailed commissioning records, test results, and performance benchmarks.
- Support training and knowledge transfer to operational teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mineral Processing, Metallurgy, or Chemical Engineering, or a related field
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in British Columbia or eligibility for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC)
- Extensive experience in overseeing commissioning projects, preferably in remote or challenging environments.
- Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in the industry, preferably mining.
- Proven track record in leading commissioning teams and managing complex system integrations.
- Experience with commissioning frameworks and performance benchmarking.
- Familiarity with construction and commissioning safety processes.
- Strong computer skills using MS office suite is required.
- Has consistently demonstrated strong leadership skills
- Must possess very strong attention to detail.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently as needed
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and comfortable making recommendations.
- Capability to work in a self-directed manner and possess good time management skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to support reporting, and communication between various stakeholders.
- Highly self-motivated and ability to work with minimal guidance.
This is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation.
The Eskay Creek Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace airport, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena’s Travel Policy.
There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.

The expected salary range for this position is CA$160,000- CA$220,000, in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia. Salary ranges are guidelines and any job offer received by a candidate will be determined on a number of factors such as relevant education, training, and/or experience.
