Seeking a highly motivated and experienced Commissioning Manager to lead a team of commissioning technicians to execute required commissioning and testing requirements. You will serve as a key member of our growing team fulfilling a critical role with your technical expertise and leadership ability.
- The Commissioning Manager will lead a team of commissioning technicians responsible for executing commissioning activities and testing on community solar garden and distributed generation ground mount solar sites.
- The Commissioning Manager will serve as the senior member of the commissioning team, providing technical training and support to other technicians, and stepping in as necessary when needed for difficult or complicated scenarios.
- Work closely with customers, project management teams, internal and external engineering resources, and equipment suppliers to plan commissioning activities and work through day-to-day issues.
- As necessary, the candidate will be required to travel to project sites to perform and assist with commissioning activities and support their team members.
- Develop and assist with the development or updates to standard procedures to include quality inspections, commissioning plans, and safe work procedures.
- Work with project management team as well as construction personnel to assist with correcting construction punch list items as necessary.
- Assign team members to specific projects and activities and organize the overall schedule and plan for assigned technicians.
- Ensure standardization of commissioning processes and tools.
- Work with project management team to ensure that proper documentation is recorded and maintained in accordance with customer requirements.
- Along with the project management team, coordinate with the Power Services Division as necessary for relay protection settings and electrical apparatus testing requirements.
- Educate yourself and technicians on utility requirements for interconnections, energizations, and witness testing.
- Support energization and witness testing as required. Train your technicians to safely perform these procedures and troubleshoot issues.
- Create commissioning and testing reports for customers.
- Drive continuous improvement in developing and capturing technical problem-solving knowledge to enable other technicians to resolve customer problems and inquiries effectively.
- Perform administrative functions as necessary for assigned personnel.
- Participate in client update meetings and internal scheduling meetings.
- Travel required up to 33% of the time. Ability to stay on-site for consecutive days, and up to a week at a time during commissioning activities.
- Direct technical experience with commissioning activities for ground mount solar fields to include inverter and DAS trouble shooting, energizations, and witness tests.
- Some management experience preferred.
- Thorough understanding and knowledge of power system installation, construction, design phase engineering, system layout design, and single line drawings.
- Assist with contract review for commissioning and testing exhibits.
- Good technical writing skills and ability to draft working instructions and standard procedures.
- Ability to simplify and report complicated scenarios to the management team and recommend actions plans.
- Exceptional critical thinking, troubleshooting, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong organizational and time management skills. Must be able to multitask and prioritize in order to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work flexible hours and respond to emergencies as required.
