Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will lead the Anodize and Vertical Paint Line teams (approximately 75 total members across multiple shifts). The Coatings Manager focuses on developing team capabilities, ensuring efficient and safe production, and driving continuous improvement to achieve world-class coating processes.
Responsibilities:
•Direct the daily operations of the Anodize and VPL departments.
•Align departmental strategy, resources, and processes with budgeted KPIs.
•Lead and develop Anodize and VPL Supervisors and team members through training and knowledge sharing.
•Collaborate with teams and suppliers to improve department performance (throughput, rework, complaints) and advance technical capabilities.
•Partner with all staff and management to drive business improvements (cost, quality).
•Report on Anodize and VPL KPIs daily, monthly, and annually.
•Ensure communication of department action plans and team member understanding of roles and responsibilities.
•Provide verbal and written reports on relevant activities.
•Support the development and maintenance of quality, environmental, and safety procedures and staff certifications.
•Oversee the development and deployment of process documentation and work instructions.
•Collaborate with scheduling to meet production schedules and customer service levels.
•Support business development and sales with technical capability information.
•Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) regulations.
•Participate in and report on audits (quality, safety, etc.) and implement action plans.
•Manage the Anodize and VPL budget, including MRO, labor costs, and capital expenditures.
•Propose and implement cost-saving initiatives.
Qualifications:
•Minimum 5 years' experience in Anodize or Coating operations, with 3+ years in a management/supervisory role.
•Detailed understanding of the chemistry and systems critical to delivering high-quality anodized and coated parts.
•Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering preferred.
•Experience with racking, rack design, throughput, and part geometry considerations.
•Experience with Anodize/Paint line process spares and MRO.
•Ability to interpret blueprints and use precision measuring devices.
•Strong independent work ethic and self-direction.
•Familiarity with ISO preferred.
•Working knowledge of AAMA 611 and AAMA 2605 desired.
•Excellent oral and written communication and computer skills.
•Lean practitioner preferred.
