Co-op Student - IT Cybersecurity Infrastructure and Platforms - Fall September 2025

The location for this position can be in offices across the Lower Mainland including Vancouver, Burnaby, or Fraser Valley
area in BC.
•We are looking for team-oriented, 3rd or 4th year Co-op students who demonstrates strong communications,
interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills.
•Working with IT’s Cybersecurity Infrastructure and Platforms team will include:
•Gaining knowledge and experience with various Cybersecurity Platforms and understand complex deployments and
configurations.
•Having the opportunity to prime a cybersecurity platform enhancement project. Where you will create/enhance new or
existing complimentary platform tools. This will allow you to showcase your devops, scripting, and programming skillsets.
•Assist with creating and updating of technical documentation and infrastructure playbooks.
•Tasks will be assigned based on the needs of the department and strengths of the student.
What you bring
•To qualify as a candidate, individual's must be enrolled in the Co-op Program and have yet to graduate from a recognized
post-secondary institution in Canada.
•3rd of 4th year students studying computer science; with previous work experience are preferred.
•Good development and programming experience (i.e. Python, Java, regex. SQL)
•Firm understanding of various Operating systems (i.e. Linux/Windows)
•Some knowledge of various Network Protocols/interfaces (i.e. SSL, DNS, TCP/IP, REST API etc..)
•Cybersecurity Platforms Experience is an asset (i.e. Endpoint Protection, Web Proxy, Vulnerability Management, SIEM)
•Strong analytical skills, combined with good judgement and ability to learn quickly.
•Good working knowledge of MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access). Confident at learning new and
specialized program environments.
•Strong interpersonal and communication (both written and oral) skills are an asset and the ability to work efficiently,
independently and in a team environment.
•Strong attention to detail
What we offer
•As a condition of employment at BC Hydro, a background check clearance will be required.
•This position is for a four month work term with a strong potential to extend for one additional term.
•Students are expected to work at the job location for their co-op role and it is the student’s responsibility to relocate
themselves if necessary.
