Steel Plate, LLC….a market leader, highly experienced plate cutting and processing manufacturing company, is seeking experienced CNC Burners/Plasma/Oxy Table Operators to flame cut steel plate, ensuring all parts are cut to the description on the Burn Sheet. This position reports to the Production Supervisor.
Competitive Hourly Base Pay: Staring at $23/HR. with great benefits, and quarterly BONUS opportunity. We have a two shift operation. On Second Shift we pay an additional $2/HR shift differential.
· Clean the Burning machine before start of shift and maintain the area throughout the day.
· Help load and unload the Burn table.
· Burn operators must sign and date all Burn sheets they are Burning from.
· Measure the plate and write the “ON SIZE” of each plate burned on the burn sheet.
· Review Burn comments. i.e., domestic, +/-, ship drops, mark pieces and plate material.
· Review pieces to verify if shapes are rings, rectangles or templates.
· Seek best possible yield and layout to maximize the use of the plate avoiding waste.
· Select correct Burning tip for thickness of plate and make sure the tip is clean.
· Verify your square and then square your torches to the plate.
· Select the correct program to Burn when part is a template. If the part is a standard shape: program as a ring, rectangle or computer shape.
· Maintain the machine and notify management of any needed repairs.
· Measure thickness of the plate and verify plate grade before burning any parts. Initial beside “Grade/Thickness”.
· Properly fill out Burn sheets (on size, off size, number of parts burned off each line item).
· Check for any special instructions in the shop comments on the burn sheet before burning.
· Look over the “ship date” of each line item on the Burn Sheet to determine the urgency of the orders on the Burn Sheet.
· Assist warehouse/crane operators in selecting drops or searching for specific plate.
· Double check the drawing attached to the Burn sheets to ensure it matches the CNC program that appears on the machines screen.
· Write Customer’s name, plate number, order number and line item on each part Burned if the size permits.
· Notify warehouse and management of any errors or deformities in the parts.
· Test run and adjust Burn on plate for proper spot to Burn.
· Preheat and adjust cutting speed for the correct thickness of plate.
· Measure part after cutting to ensure accuracy. Cut any scrap off of the remaining plate.
· Measure the amount of the plate being put back into inventory and write “OFF SIZE” on Burn sheet for each plate burned.
· Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations and safety protocols.
· Maintain a clean area around the machine. Sweep up dust, pick up trash and dispose of it properly.
· Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. in a physical environment.
· Ability to stand for long periods of time up to and exceeding 60 minutes.
· Ability to make repetitive movements including, but not limited to, bending or squatting.
· Familiar with manufacturing environment with regular exposure to factors such as moving particles, temperature extremes, moving machinery, equipment and loud noise.
· High School Diploma or combined equivalent experience and certifications will be considered.
· One to two years related experience is required
· Ability to operate a Lift Truck, Overhead Crane and Forklift is required
· CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Operation experience required
· Ability to multi-task in a fast pace environment
· Must be able to read a tape measure, perform simple math, including decimals and fractions.
· Proficient in English with excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Has strong ability to problem solve and deal with change in a fast paced environment.
· Strong interpersonal skills for developing good working relationships with coworkers.
