The CNC Mill Machinist is responsible for setting up, machining, and producing complex production parts on a CNC mill to high tolerance design specifications in an accurate, timely, and cost-effective manner.
- Operates all equipment and tools with the utmost attention to safety and professionalism.
- Studies blueprints, drawings, schematics, engineering information, or sample parts to determine product dimensions and tolerances as well as the best method and sequence of operations needed to fabricate parts.
- Independently sets up and operates CNC mills.
- Select appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used for machining work.
- Capable of performing quality control functions on the CNC mill (offset adjustment).
- Aligns/ secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials onto machines
- Monitors the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
- Observes and listens to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and determine the need for adjustments or repairs.
- Measures, examines, and tests completed parts to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
- Oversees that all work is performed to the highest quality and safety standards in the machining cell.
- Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
- Strong analytical and communication skills are a must
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and troubleshoot issues
- Able to read, write, and communicate fluently in English
- Must know how to use precision measuring tools (micrometers and calipers)
- Knowledge of Fanuc controls
- Demonstrated ability to set up a machine and run the job with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of G, D & T.
- Ability to change and adapt work behaviors based on a constantly changing production schedule
- Must be dependable and detailed oriented- High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 5+ years of machining experience with a CNC mill
- Exerts up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects
