Job Description
Valar Atomics is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented CNC Mill Machinist to join its precision manufacturing team in Hawthorne, California. This role is suited for a candidate with proven expertise in operating and maintaining CNC milling machines, with a strong understanding of multi-axis machining, tooling strategies, and part inspection. The successful candidate will contribute to the production of complex components that meet rigorous quality and dimensional standards.
Responsibilities•Set up, operate, and maintain CNC milling machines, including 3-axis and multi-axis vertical and horizontal machining centers.
•Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T to accurately manufacture precision components.
•Configure tools, fixtures, offsets, feeds, and speeds to optimize machining efficiency and part quality.
•Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, height gauges, and dial indicators.
•Identify and resolve machining issues promptly to reduce downtime and improve workflow reliability.
•Collaborate with engineering and production teams to review machining strategies and provide feedback on manufacturability and process improvements.
•Maintain compliance with safety protocols and uphold a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
Qualifications
•Minimum of 3–5 years of experience operating CNC milling equipment in a precision manufacturing environment
•Demonstrated proficiency with machine setup, including fixture alignment, tool setting, and job sequencing
•Solid understanding of material behavior and cutting techniques for metals such as aluminum, stainless steel, and titanium
•Familiarity with G-code editing and CAM software, such as ESPRIT, Mastercam, or similar platforms
•Ability to perform inspections and hold tight tolerances on complex geometries and critical dimensions
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
