About Us – Mako Mining Corp is a publicly listed gold mining, development and exploration company. The Company operates the high-grade San Albino gold mine in Nueva Segovia, Nicaragua, which ranks as one of the highest-grade open pit gold mines globally and offers district-scale exploration potential. Mako also owns the Moss Mine in Arizona, an open pit gold mine in northwestern Arizona. Mako also holds a 100% interest in the PEA-stage Eagle Mountain Project in Guyana, South America. Eagle Mountain is the subject of engineering, environmental and mine permitting activity. Mako US Corp (a subsidiary of Mako Mining Corp.) is currently seeking a qualified person for the position of Civil Engineer – Mining Projects (Design & Construction).

About this role – Civil Engineer – Mining Projects (Design & Construction)

Responsibilities

Project Engineering and Design

- Develop and review designs for civil and structural works, including earthworks, site grading, drainage systems, haul roads, bridges, foundations, and process plant infrastructure

- Prepare technical specifications, design criteria, and construction drawings for civil and structural systems

- Collaborate with process and operations teams to ensure fully integrated project designs

Project Delivery and Construction Support

- Provide engineering oversight during construction of civil works

- Review contractor submittals, construction drawings, and method statements for compliance with project specifications

- Monitor quality, schedule, and cost performance of civil works contractors

- Oversee earthworks, concrete, and steel installations, ensuring best practices and adherence to safety standards

Project Management Support

- Assist with planning, budgeting, and scheduling of civil engineering project scopes

- Contribute to tender evaluations, contractor selection, and vendor management

- Support risk assessments, constructability reviews, and value engineering initiatives

Commissioning and Handover

- Support inspection, testing, and certification of civil and structural works

- Ensure accurate as-built documentation and handover packages are prepared

- Provide technical input for operational readiness and training of site teams

Safety and Compliance

- Ensure civil designs and construction activities comply with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements

- Promote safe construction practices and environmental stewardship across all project phases

Qualifications and Skills

- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (or equivalent)

- Professional Engineer (PE / P. Eng) designation is desirable but not required

- 5+ years of civil engineering experience in mining, mineral processing, or large-scale industrial projects

- Strong knowledge of earthworks, foundations, drainage, and structural systems for mine sites

- Proficiency with design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or equivalent)

- Proven ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and manage contractors

- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills

- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement

- A valid passport is required for international travel

Working Conditions

- Tucson office-based modeling work and field-based exploration / mine site duties

- Exposure to outdoor and mining environments, including open pit and underground settings.

- May require FIFO / DIDO roster or extended stays during critical construction and operational phases
