Develop and review mechanical designs for crushing, milling, material handling, pumping, piping, and plant infrastructure systems
·
Prepare technical specifications, design criteria, and engineering deliverables
·
Conduct equipment selection, sizing, and layout for new mining and processing facilities
·
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams (civil, operations and processing) to ensure fully integrated designs
·
Provide mechanical engineering support during construction and installation phases
·
Review construction drawings, submittals, and contractor work to ensure compliance with specifications and standards
Oversee mechanical equipment installation, alignment, and commissioning
·
Assist with cost estimates, scheduling, and progress tracking for mechanical scopes of work
·
Contribute to contractor/vendor selection and manage technical aspects of procurement
·
Support risk assessments, constructability reviews, and value engineering initiatives
Develop commissioning procedures for mechanical systems
·
Support start-up, testing, and performance verification of mechanical equipment
·
Ensure proper documentation, as-built drawings, and training are provided to operations and maintenance teams
·
Ensure all mechanical designs meet relevant codes, standards, and regulations
·
Promote safe construction practices and participate in safety reviews (HAZOP, HAZID)The above duties and responsibilities are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive.*
· Professional Engineer (PE / P. Eng) designation preferred
· 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience in mining, mineral processing, or heavy industrial construction projects
· Strong knowledge of design and installation of bulk material handling systems, rotating equipment, piping, and pumps
· Proficiency with design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Plant 3D, or similar)
· A valid passport is required for international travel
· Tucson office-based modeling work and field-based exploration / mine site duties
· Exposure to outdoor and mining environments, including open pit and underground settings.
· May require FIFO / DIDO roster or extended stays during critical construction and operational phases
· Play a key role in building mining and processing facilities from the ground up
