Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) to join our team on a contracted basis. The CPSS will provide peer-to-peer support, sharing lived experience and offering guidance to individuals managing mental health and/or substance use challenges. The ideal candidate will empower clients to achieve recovery goals, build resilience, and improve overall well-being through empathetic support and advocacy.
Key Responsibilities:
•Provide one-on-one peer support and mentorship to individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders.
•Utilize lived experience to foster hope, motivation, and self-advocacy among clients.
•Assist clients in navigating behavioral health services, community resources, and recovery supports.
•Facilitate group support sessions and wellness activities as needed.
•Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care and advocate for client needs.
•Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards consistent with peer support certification.
•Complete documentation and reporting as required by the contracting organization and funding sources.
•Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance peer support skills.
Qualifications:
•Current North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) credential.
•Personal lived experience with mental health and/or substance use recovery.
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
•Ability to engage individuals with empathy, respect, and cultural sensitivity.
•Basic computer skills and comfort with electronic documentation.
•Reliable transportation and valid driver's license.
•Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule.
Contract Details:
•This is a contracted position; hours and assignments may vary based on client needs.
•Compensation will be negotiated based on experience and service hours.
•Compliance with all certification and continuing education requirements is expected.
