The Casthouse Operator team is responsible for the individual tasks required to produce aluminum products in accordance with quality specifications, safety policies and standardized work procedures. Each Casthouse Operator is assigned a specific set of tasks depending on product line needs.
You’ll handle tasks like maintaining clean driving paths, inspecting equipment, preparing molds and tools, and setting up troughs for pouring processes. Operating robotic arms, troubleshooting minor issues, and conducting quality inspections to remove defective products will be part of your daily responsibilities. You’ll also skim sow molds, stack ingots, strap bundles, and operate a counterbalance forklift as needed, all while ensuring quality standards through testing and mentoring new operators. To succeed as a Casthouse Operator, candidates should possess a High School Diploma or equivalent and demonstrate the ability to take initiative and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. They must be comfortable and safety-conscious when working around molten aluminum materials, maintaining situational awareness to navigate mobile equipment paths and molten aluminum processing areas safely. This role requires flexibility to work on a 2-week rotational shift schedule, covering mornings, nights, and afternoons. Proficiency in reading, writing, and verbal communication in English is essential to ensure seamless operations and team collaboration. These qualities are vital for maintaining safety and efficiency in a dynamic, high-risk environment.
