This position is at our Rutherford County, North Carolina zinc refinery, and may work in various areas in the plant. We are seeking several individuals, with good work ethic, preferably with chemical processing or manufacturing experience in a 24h operation. Starting salary of $17.00 per hour, increasing to $20.00 per hour after six months for successful employees, and numerous opportunities for further advancement. This position is a rotating 7 days on/7 days off shift! Ex: 7am-7pm for 7 straight days, off for 7 straight days and then you will flip and work 7pm-7am for 7 straight days!
· Operate and maintain processing equipment to achieve area objectives according to operating guidelines using SOPs, process monitoring instrumentation, supervisory input, and continuous improvement methods.
· Collect samples for laboratory analysis to ensure process is achieving desired results.
· Actively monitor area to identify systems that may not be operating correctly.
· Complete operational PMs for area to ensure efficient operation of equipment and process.
· Troubleshoot issues with production equipment and processes.
· Operate mobile equipment in a safe manner to accomplish area requirements.
· Focus on housekeeping in order to maintain a safe clean work environment.
· Comply with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.
· May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
· High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
· One year of experience as a chemical operator or equivalent.
· Ability to climb ladders and stairs multiple times per shift.
· Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently move up to 50 pounds.
· Ability to walk for multiple hours during shift.
· Personal protective equipment is required on a regular basis, including hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, respirator, protective clothing, and gloves.
· Competent with safe operation of hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
· Basic understanding of pumps, conveyors, and pneumatics.
· Excellent time management, attention to detail, and communication skills (verbal and written).
· Must work well with others and be able to take direction from multiple sources.
· Ability to understand and convey verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English.
· Experience with DOT, OSHA, and all related safety regulations preferred.
· Must maintain a clean and safe work area.
· MUST be able to work outdoors in ALL types of weather.
