Role Definition

The Tooling Buyer is responsible for the strategic planning, procurement, and lifecycle management of Solar-owned tooling at supplier facilities. This role ensures timely and cost-effective acquisition of tooling, supports supplier relationships, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain. Key activities include issuing and managing RFQs, processing requisitions, managing purchase orders, and supporting cross-functional teams in sourcing, cost analysis, and contract development.

Vendor/Supplier Management: Knowledge of external provider management processes and ability to effectively manage the business relationship with external providers (e.g., vendors, service providers, contractors, consultants, and suppliers).

Cost Management: Knowledge of cost management; ability to plan and control organizational costs to lower product and service costs and maximize return.

Procurement & Systems Knowledge: Knowledge of buying and procurement; ability to work with organizational strategies and practices, and use tools for buying goods, supplies, equipment and services needed to conduct business.

Summary Pay Range:

$76,542.00 - $114,814.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
