Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and strategic Business Development Manager to lead our client acquisition and relationship-building efforts in the data center sector. This individual will be focused on identifying and securing new construction opportunities, particularly in the 5–15MW project range, and will serve as a key liaison between Knobelsdorff and developers, EPCs, general contractors, and data center operators.
This is a client-facing, revenue-generating role that requires deep industry knowledge, polished communication skills, and the ability to translate technical solutions into business value. Ideal candidates will bring proven success in construction-related business development and a network of contacts in the data center or mission-critical space.
Key Responsibilities
•Proactively develop new business opportunities within the data center construction market, targeting small to mid-sized projects (5–15MW).
•Cultivate long-term relationships with developers, general contractors, EPC firms, and end users.
•Own the full business development cycle: prospecting, qualifying, relationship-building, pursuit strategy, and handoff to project teams.
•Collaborate with internal stakeholders (preconstruction, estimating, and leadership) to align client needs with KE capabilities.
•Track market activity and trends to help identify strategic growth areas.
•Prepare and deliver effective presentations, proposals, and sales materials to prospective clients.
•Maintain accurate records of business development activities, pipeline status, and KPIs in CRM systems.
•Represent Knobelsdorff at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities.
•Lead strategic account planning and ensure follow-through on long-term client engagement goals.
Qualifications
•5+ years of business development, sales, or client strategy experience within data center infrastructure.
•Knowledge of data center construction cycles, key players, and buying processes.
•Existing industry relationships with data center developers, EPCs, or GCs highly preferred.
•Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and executive stakeholders.
•Comfortable working collaboratively across preconstruction, operations, and leadership teams.
•Experience responding to RFPs, developing proposals, and managing opportunity pipelines.
•Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce).
Preferred Background
•Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or Construction Management.
•Experience in electrical or mission-critical environments a plus.
