Overview
The Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC) has an opening for a Building Operator to join the Facilities and Security team to support the safe, efficient and compliant operation of SRC’s facilities, providing day-to-day maintenance and technical oversight of building systems.
Accountabilities
•Develop and execute preventive maintenance programs for HVAC, electrical, plumbing and life safety systems as well as apply predictive maintenance techniques such as vibration analysis and thermal imaging
•Conduct routine facility walkthroughs, log operational data and proactively identify and report equipment malfunctions or performance issues
•Operate and monitor Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS), adjust system parameters and troubleshoot issues related to climate control, lighting and integrated security systems
•Coordinate with third-party contractors and vendors for scheduled services, repairs and installations. Monitor contractor performance and compliance to scope, safety protocols and technical specifications
•Maintain detailed records of inspections, permits, and work completed in support of audits and reporting requirements, ensuring compliance with municipal, provincial and federal regulations- including fire code, boiler operations and environmental standards
•Conduct regular testing and inspection of emergency systems, including backup generators, fire suppression and emergency lighting systems
•Participate as a key member of SRC’s emergency management team and support emergency response readiness
Requirements
•Minimum 4 years’ experience in building operations
•Experience in an institutional, industrial or research facility setting is preferred
•Trade certification in plumbing, HVAC or electrical is an asset
•Class 4 or 5 Power Engineering Certification is preferred

•Ability to troubleshoot, maintain and repair mechanical and electrical building systems and equipment
•Knowledge of building codes, fire codes, and familiarity with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards is an asset
•Understanding of WHMIS protocols and safety documentation practices, such as lockout/tagout and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
•Proficiency in using computer systems and software applications, including CMMS, BAS/BMS interfaces and documentation tools
