Core6 Environmental is seeking an experienced (5-8 years), full-time Intermediate Biologist to join our team at our head office in Vancouver, BC. We are an energetic and exciting consulting firm that provides a range of environmental services. We are known for the quality of our work, strong technical skills and regulatory knowledge.
The successful candidate will work with senior staff at Core6 to lead more junior staff and field teams and be relied upon to provide Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP) opinions when needed. Specific tasks in support of Core6’s monitoring and contaminated sites services, may include the following:
•Field team leader for field surveys (e.g., invasive plants, breeding bird, habitat quality);
•Construction site monitoring as the Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP);
•Erosion and sediment control monitoring;
•Environmental permitting support;
•Benthic Community Assessments;
•Field team leader for fish and amphibian salvages;
•Soil, sediment, surface water, and groundwater sample collection for contaminated site investigations;
•Data compilation and statistical analysis; and
•Reporting (e.g., Environmental Management Plans; Environmental Assessments,Human Health and Ecological Risk Assessments)
In addition, as an Intermediate-level staff member, you may also prepare proposals and cost estimates, manage projects, and supervise junior staff.
Qualifications and Requirements
•Biological science or related degree;
•Registered Professional Biologist or eligible with College of Applied Biology;
•Familiarity with municipal, BC provincial, and Canadian federal environmental acts, regulations, guidance, and protocols;
•Valid Class 5 drivers licence with access to a vehicle;
•Strong scientific report writing skills;
•Willing to travel and when necessary work overtime to meet project schedules;
•Excellent communication and collaboration skills;
•Strong time management skills; and
•Creative-thinker and confident sharing ideas for continuous improvement.
Desirable Assets
•Graduate degree in biological sciences
•Completion of post-secondary toxicology courses or experience with Human Health and Ecological Risk Assessments; and
•Project management experience.
