Bioenergy Production Manager
at our Leamington, Ontario facility.
The Bioenergy Production Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring operational, financial and environmental success of Envest’s Seacliff Energy Corp. facility. Reporting to the General Manager Bioenergy, you will be a senior leader responsible for driving growth and enabling the next phase of the Company’s evolution.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
As the Bioenergy Production Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day management of our anaerobic digestion facility, ensuring efficient biogas production, compliance with environmental and safety regulations, and delivery of high-quality renewable natural gas (RNG or biomethane). You’ll lead an interdisciplinary team, manage operational budgets, and strive for continuous improvement in plant performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations Management:
•Oversee all stages of the biogas production process: feedstock reception, anaerobic digestion, gas upgrading, purification, compression, and distribution.
•Monitor systems, optimize production, minimize downtime, and maintain consistent output.
•Monitor critical process parameters (e.g., pH, temperature, organic loading rate) and adjust operations to maintain digester stability.
•Reduce operations costs wherever possible.
Safety and Environmental Compliance:
•Be a visible safety champion by leading safety initiatives including management of required compliance safety training and scheduling.
•Together with head office EH&S oversight, you will ensure site level management and tracking of health and safety performance metrics including Leading Indicators (i.e. “good catches”, employee safety inspections, etc.) and Lagging Indicators such as Motor Vehicle Accidents (MVAs), First Aids (FAs), Lost Time Accidents (LTAs) and Near Misses (NM) as part of the broader corporate Health and Safety Program.
•You will be responsible for ensuring scheduling and completion of monthly safety meetings with site level staff while keeping records of meetings and action items for same.
•Ensure full compliance with local, provincial, and federal environmental regulations.
Maintenance & Technical Oversight:
•Schedule and supervise preventive maintenance on digesters, compressors, pumps, gas cleaning systems, and generators.
•Lead troubleshooting of mechanical failures or process upsets, collaborating with vendors and technical staff.
Feedstock & Quality Management:
•Oversee feedstock logistics—sourcing, acceptance, testing—ensuring consistency and quality to maximize biogas yield.
•Implement quality assurance protocols for biomethane output, monitoring purity levels, and adjusting upgrading methods.
•Optimize feedstock mix – analyze feedstock input and secure waste from reliable partners.
Team Leadership & HR:
•Manage and mentor a team of operators, technicians, and administrative professionals, including hiring, employee development, performance management, and training.
•Promote a teamwork-oriented, performance-driven, and safety-focused culture.
Budget, Reporting & Stakeholder Management:
•Develop and monitor annual production and operational budgets including operating expense and sustaining capital together with cost-control initiatives.
•Produce regular production and operational reports for internal stakeholders including variance explanation for financial reporting, regulatory agencies, and external partners.
•Maintain relationships with feedstock suppliers, gas customers, regulators, and community stakeholders.
•Provide monthly forecast updates for financial reporting including production, operating expenses and capital expenses, interface with the Parent Company and support initiatives such as fundraising as required.
•Develop and dynamically manage a forward-looking 3-year sustaining capital plan which will be updated with annual budget each year.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation:
•Analyze KPIs to identify optimization opportunities and lead improvement initiatives (e.g., increased yields, reduced energy use).
•Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes—evaluating applicability to the plant.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Education & Experience:
•Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical), Environmental Science, Renewable Energy, or related field. 5–7+ years in industrial plant operations or process management—experience in biogas/RNG or anaerobic digestion strongly preferred.
•Management education and / or training would be an asset.
Technical Skills:
•Deep understanding of anaerobic digestion, biogas upgrading, purification methods, and downstream gas handling.
•Maintenance management, troubleshooting (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation), and process optimization.
Leadership & Interpersonal:
•Proven leadership capacity: team building, coaching, performance management.
•Excellent communication, stakeholder, and vendor management skills.
•Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with proven results in operational improvements.
•Enforce company policies and procedures at the site level.
•Manage shift scheduling and employee time off approvals per the company policies.
Certifications & Safety
•OSHA, HAZWOPER, or equivalent safety certifications. Six Sigma/Lean certification highly desired.
•Confined Space Entry, First Aid/CPR preferred.
