The qualified applicant should have a minimum of two years experience in canal maintenance and possess a Florida Aquatic Herbicide Applicator license. Work involves assisting in applying herbicides to control aquatic plants, operation and maintenance of flood gates, cleaning of canals and maintenance of District rights of way such as removal of invasive trees, bushes and shrubs.
Ability to operate a variety of equipment such as boats, vehicles, trucks, trailers, spray machinery, hand tools, power tools, tractor/mower, etc.
Ability to deal with people beyond receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to perform under stress when confronted with emergency situations.
Must have a valid Florida drivers license, satisfactory background check and pass a pre-employment drug screening test.
Work is often performed in a hot and humid environment.
Salary to commensurate relative to level of license and years of experience in the field.
