Since September 2009, Whitecap has experienced remarkable growth, increasing production from 850 boe/d to over 365,000 boe/d. We have unconventional and conventional assets exclusively focused in Western Canada and the asset base includes the Weyburn EOR Project. As a majority owner and operator of the Weyburn EOR Project, annually we safely sequester approximately 1.5 million tonnes of CO 2 making it a unique project within our portfolio.

Position Overview:
We are seeking an intermediate Analytics Developer to join our centralized Data & Analytics team. You will support corporate data management, analytics, and reporting across multiple disciplines including geosciences, engineering, production, operations, finance, and corporate planning. This role focuses on maintaining and expanding our enterprise reporting platform, developing analytical tools, building data models for operational needs, and enabling self-service data capabilities across the business.
As the ideal candidate, you will have energy industry experience in a technical, data-related role, be comfortable navigating oil & gas datasets, and have a passion for data, analytics, and technology.
Key Job Accountabilities:
Data Development & Analytics:
•Partner with business stakeholders to create and maintain analytical solutions including reports, dashboards, and data models that drive decision-making across the organization
•Design and implement comprehensive data pipelines from source to insights, ensuring data quality and reliability within the enterprise warehouse environment
Technical Leadership:
•Lead Tableau platform management and serve as a technical resource for data-related inquiries, user enablement, and process optimization initiatives
•Create clear technical documentation, training materials, and stakeholder presentations tailored to various organizational levels
Primary Qualifications and Skills:
Education & Experience:
•Post-secondary education in Engineering, Geology, IT, Data Science, or related field
•3-7 years of energy industry experience in a technical role leveraging data and analytics (preferred)
•Familiarity with oil & gas operations and concepts considered an asset
Core Technical Competencies:
•Advanced SQL proficiency including complex queries, performance optimization, CTEs, and window functions across database platforms
•Strong experience with visual analytics tools (Tableau expertise preferred) and data modeling/warehouse architecture (PostgreSQL considered an asset)
•Experience with ETL processes and data transformation workflows (dbt experience valued)

•Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies with experience in scripting languages (Python), version control (Git), and modern data platforms considered assets
