The Product Owner is a platform expert and critical member of the team. The Product Owner utilizes strong domain and product knowledge to understand and analyze domain business strategies and direction. The Product Owner can envision new product features and capabilities to meet business needs. Responsibilities include using domain knowledge and expertise to understand a business partner’s processes, gaps, and challenges and converting that knowledge into effective and efficient solutions. Expected to fully understand the reasons and business implications of what is being requested and not just to gather requirements. Working with requirements and able to say no when requests conflict with product strategy or other requirements. Developing working relationships with the business team and domain leadership, and partnering with them to understand the domain’s business strategy. Working with business stakeholders to create user stories based on technical feasibility. Working with product manager on what features and functionality to build and the order in which to build them. Using user story acceptance criteria and documentation to pass on requirements knowledge to the development team. Helps evaluate alternative solutions when presented by the team. Preparing user documentation to share upcoming changes, which is used by the training team to create training materials. Requirements include 3+ years of experience working in domain/service area, advanced communication and negotiation skills; articulate and able to influence others, background in motivating, driving and delivering, able to deliver results independently, demonstrate sound business judgement and critical thinking, and approach working experience in an Agile development environment.
